Friday night we left early to start our drive back to Cali with the U-Haul and the van. (We got some furniture from my parents' place) I decided to skip my 20 year class reunion--my own little way of "sticking it to the man"--for the sake of getting my family home in one piece. As I was driving with Thomas and Nathan sleeping (finally!) in the back of the van, my favorite song came on and I replayed it over and over because it just seemed to fit the mood. It makes me think of Jason and our week.
In the words of the Beatles (and the great Ozzy Osbourne)-
There are places I rememberI'm happy to be home with my husband and my sons. Our life may be crazy, and disorganized, and hurried, and messy, but it's our life, and it's the most fulfilling thing we could possibly do.
All my life - though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
there is no one compared with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I've loved you more
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more
