Wendy and the boys left on Monday for Oregon. We woke up at 4:30am to pack and send them off. Someone had smashed in the window on our SUV and stole the GPS unit. Bummer! So they drove with a plastic duck taped window the whole 600 miles.
Yesterday at 5:45 she (with her parents and all 3 boys) text'd me saying, "I am exhausted". I was here:
with two good friends playing golf at one of the most beautiful courses on the ocean in Half Moon Bay and in a completely peaceful state. The sun was setting... it was as close as you can get to bliss... So like any good husband I text'd her back saying, "I completely understand".
I miss them. I told her yesterday that I understand why retired folk appear to have their lives together; clean homes, peaceful state of existence, etc... because they do! After you have raised 3 kids, worked on staying close in your marriage, manage a demanding career and struggle to keep it all together and not go completely insane - then it's all over - all you have is time.
This week with them gone the house is clean, I have time, I can think and it is extremely easy (albeit lonely). So bottom line I cannot wait to see them and enter back into my normal chaotic state... but not until another round of golf tomorrow night (Bodega Bay, CA - Dunes Course). Then I fly out to Oregon and drive home with them.
