First Beach Day of the Season

The sun came out today so we decided we needed an outing! We packed up some snacks and headed to Half Moon Bay to the beach. It was a beautiful day, but still cold and windy. That didn't stop the boys from playing in the sand for a couple of hours. They dug a huge hole with a friend they met there, then they found a long piece of kelp they dragged all the way to the car...and of course, they RAN!

An Easter Project

We had a nice quiet Easter...it was pouring rain (again) so Jason built the boys a fort out of cardboard boxes in the garage. They had a blast playing in it and it's the coolest fort I've ever seen.

Random Friday Thoughts...

Due to changing weather patterns and global warming, I feel like I live in the Northwest, because of the amount of rain pouring down. Nonetheless I am happy! There are many things that I have not posted that have been encouraging over the past week:

Driving to work on 280 everyday. I am amazed in the heart of Silicon Valley, and just past Sandhill Road (one of the most amazing business places to live in the world) there are fields of cows - this never ceases to amaze me!

Our friends, Ron & Larissa Kemper (along with Hunter) coming down to visit last weekend. It has been about 10 years since Ron and I met and it was very good to see them. There are alot more pictures on their site - Kempers

But we went hiking, ate food, talked and just relaxed together. It was a great time!

And lastly, my very good friend and co-worker Josh Nail is getting baptized tomorrow at our Easter Service in San Jose. I cannot say how encouraging it has been to work with someone who has become a great friend and now a brother. He has been a great encouragement to my faith and to my family. I will post pics tomorrow.

Finally, a sunny day

After what seems like a thousand days in a row of rain, the sun peeked out today. We took advantage of the situation by taking a wagon ride to Starbucks (I had to take a few breaks to let contractions pass, hehe), playing in the driveway with all the cars and trucks, and finally...blowing up the Fun Roller. We picked up this human hamster wheel sort of thing last fall for the boys' birthday and hadn't had a chance to use it yet, so after an hour or so of blowing I got enough air into it for the boys to roll for a bit. It was quite funny watching them! I can hardly wait for summer to REALLY get here.

Random thoughts

I have no pictures. Just sitting here with Wesley. He is playng some old school video game. Thomas and Wendy are napping. We have had so much rain this year I feel as though I am living in the great Northwest again. Last week Wendy's grandmother passed away. She is flying to Denver on Tuesday for the funeral. At the same time I am flying to Los Angeles for a business trip. My mom is coming down here to spend time with the boys.

I am happy that last summer we took the boys to see Wendy's grandmother. She had asked me for years to go as she knew it may not be long before she is no longer with us. In addition, Wendy had the opportunity to talk with her a few days before she passed. I think that brought some closure as they had the 3 boy bond and Wendy was able to tell her the name of our third boy - Nathan.

Wesley is starting kindergarden soon. I know everyone says this but I cannot believe how quick time is going. Life seems to blur from one experience to another and very quickly. I want to enjoy my time with them so much more and take the time to be patient. That is my theme this week - patience.

Heather (www.foursweetpeas.blogspot.com) has inspired me with her photography and "grateful fridays". I am not going to try to imitate her photography I can only admire it. But I thought I would steal the grateful entries. I may not be as consistent but things I am grateful for as I sit here:

• Wesley saying, "Dad, I love video games."
• Thomas's determination and love of work (he loves to vacuum with me)
• Wendy's support, friendship, companionship and laughs. I love that we can laugh about things that annoy us about one another rather than fight about it. (usually...)
• My house
• The coffee I have this morning
• Josh studying the bible and really changing
• My friend Jonathan coming over to talk
  
• My mom coming down this week to hang with the boys
  
• The opportunity I have to grow and learn at work
  
• Really bad Michael Moore video I watched with Wendy last night
