My Baby Love is Three!

Today is Thomas' birthday! We have had a weekend of celebration, starting with his party on Saturday morning, a birthday breakfast complete with waffles and Krispy Kremes for the cake.

Fun was had by all. Tonight we are going to celebrate with dinner at the City Pub and ice cream after. I am having a hard time grasping that my little baby boy is 3! He came home from preschool today with a map of the world he had painted. During lunch he showed me where South America, Asia and Australia were. Wha? I'm quite sure I didn't know my continents when I was three years old. This little boy, who was once defined by his red curls that suddenly disappeared, continues to surprise me. I love his energy and his cunning. I am so looking forward to watching him grow and show me who he is. Happy birthday, Thomas! We love you so much!

Grateful? Friday

I need to do a "Grateful Friday" post today. Because I need to get grateful! This past few weeks-months-years have been so busy. I am starting to feel very fried. My day starts at 5:00 when Nathan has decided it's time to get up, and last night I was cleaning the kitchen at 10:30pm after grocery shopping, after dinner, etc. etc. I know this is the job of a mom...but it's harder than I ever imagined. At least I have good company.

Back to the things I'm GRATEFUL for.

1. Wesley can READ! Maestra Marisol sent him to the 2nd grade class yesterday to read a poem to the class all by himself. I am so proud. I had no idea he could do this.

2. Nathan is getting such a personality. He is eating cereal and applesauce and carrots and so far loves them all. I am amazed at his joy and vigor for such a little guy.

3. I really enjoy spending time with Thomas on Thursdays and Fridays when he is out of school. We have never really had this time together before since he was a baby. He's a trooper when it comes to doing errands, and he always has a smile and a hello for the people we meet.

4. I am in a new group at church and I have the opportunity to make some new friends. Everyone has been so welcoming and loving already. I was really nervous about it but I think all is going to be okay.

5. It's fall and that means Pumpkin Spice Latte season!

6. My girls weekend to Chicago is in TWO WEEKS!

7. We have a new bed, I haven't woke up with a backache all week. And J can stretch out now like he loves. It must be working because we have overslept every day this week.

I am at the Y right now watching Thomas, my 2.11 (almost 3) year old swim. It's so funny seeing them frow. He is learning lots of cool stuff.

Naptime, it's a good time

Naptime is something of a new concept to me. I know I have had kids for five years, but it's only been the past year and a half or so that I have been at home with them during the day, so I'm still really enjoying this nap thing. I think other countries that do "siesta" really have the right idea. A quiet time during the afternoon to recharge. I've had times where I nap right along with the boys, and other times it's a welcome break to do my own thing. I feel lucky that my kids enjoy their naps and actually nap at the same time. It's been hard for Wesley these past few weeks to be at school all day without one. I can tell he is really, really tired and run down. Hopefully his little body will adjust. We have really been going since school started, it seems as if there is always someplace to be. These moments, when the house is quiet, are like a little treasure.
