Summer vacation!

Ok, we are back from our trip and have been for almost a week, why can I not get caught up? We had an amazing time and France, Spain and Italy are definitely still on the list of places to visit again. One of these days I will get the pictures up on the Europe blog and share them with you.

In the meantime, everyone is out of school which severely hinders my ability to do anything other than PLAY. As I type, Thomas is repeatedly telling me Nathan is trying to eat the Legos, and he can't because he will choke on them...Wesley is telling me that R2D2 is more famous than Spongebob...and Nathan is screaming because the boys left their bedroom without him. It's been quite a week...never had all three with me full time for more than a couple of weeks before. The next 7 weeks should be interesting! If you don't see any blogging, you know where I am!

Falling Behind

Summer is already moving faster than I can keep up with. I have pictures to share that I hadn't even downloaded yet! Since the last entry, we had a visit with my oldest (meaning longest-lasting) friend, Kate. We have known each other since my first day of sixth grade when we were 10 years old. She has an incredible family, her boys showed my boys the fine survival skill of finger knitting, and they got along famously. They live in Anchorage so I wish we could see them more often, but it was a real treat to see Kate and Todd and even Grandma Betty.

Jason will share thoughts from his father/son fishing trip to the Snake River, I'm sure he will be mad at me for posting a picture of it but I just thought this was the greatest shot of three of my favorite guys. My dad, my brother Martin, and my firstborn Wesley.

We're off to Spain in less than 36 hours! *jumping up and down* We will have lots of pics and stories for you when we get back!

God said, let there be summer.

And there was summer. And it was goooooood.

We had a great weekend. First we got up early Saturday morning to hit the yard sales! I found a kids picnic table on craigslist and I was determined to snag it. So we were there right at 8 and it's ours! Then I found this incredible...thing...it reminds me of a cathedral window.
So it's on the mantel now. Then we had endless barbequing and picnicking the rest of the weekend. Our church had its annual Shoreline service, and this was the first year Wesley was in with the grownups. He brought his binoculars and had a lot of questions. He wants to get baptized, but he's a little afraid to go in the water with his clothes on. haaa.

The Great Sock Monkey Saga

I went to do (late) sock monkey pictures of Nathan today. And realized that I have totally screwed up.

I GAVE AWAY THE CHAIR.

Every month, he's had his picture taken in the glider rocker, with Great Grandma's red afghan and his sock monkeys.

When we moved, I GAVE AWAY THE CHAIR. So I had to do the photo on the couch. For shaaame! So the perspective is all off and stuff. Try to imagine the chair there behind him.

It's probably okay anyway...it's getting harder and harder to get a good shot...

To see what we ended up with, just check out the gallery.

Weekend Update

We had a busy, but fun and relaxing weekend....well, sort of. We had a yard sale on Saturday and spent many hours unpacking boxes and reshuffling things. You have to be a lot more creative in a small house...in a big one you can just throw stuff in a closet and shut the door for a year, but here, every inch counts so it's all about the "storage system". We are still working things out but it's going to be all right. We did some of our other favorite things as well, like...lunch at IKEA...finding a new park with cool water features in Palo Alto...a little shopping together...and the boys and I saw Shrek the Third. All in all, a memorable family time.
